CHANGES TO THE LAWS OF CRICKET

-EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2022
-Caught dismissals: new batters will be on strike even if the previous batter had crossed before being caught
-Running out the non-striker: has been moved from Law 41 (Unfair play) to Law 38 (Run out)
-Saliva: will not be permitted to shine the ball
-Dead ball: will be called by the umpire if either side is disadvantaged by a person, animal or object entering the field
-Wides: the umpire will now take into account all positions a batter has stood during a bowler's run-up as well as at release
-Striking off pitch: batters can hit a ball that has landed off the pitch as long as they remain partly within the pitch
-Unfair movement: by the fielding side with be punished with five penalty runs, instead of being a Dead ball
-Replacement players: will inherit any sactions or dismissals from the players they replaced
